I found these vintage pocket mirrors made from people’s wedding photos strolling through a flea market in NYC and was immediately drawn to them. These were common early in the 20th century, made for women to carry in their purses to remind them of their special day. I couldn't help but wonder about the stories behind them. Who are these people? How and where did they meet? Did they live happily ever after or did they drift apart? I brought them home and put them in this green bowl, a vintage bowl painted by a long ago relative who had her own love story, one that had a very sad ending. I like to think the people on these mirrors had long and happy lives together, that these faces captured in a moment of happiness looked at each other until old age with love and tenderness. I like to think love wins.
